The Environmental Benefits of Quartz

One of nature's most durable materials, quartz, is the world's most abundant mineral - silica or silicon dioxide (SiO2). Found almost everywhere on the earth’s surface - constituting approximately 12% of its crust - quartz is a crystal created over millions of years deep within the earth under the presence of intense heat and pressure. Growing slowly, each quartz crystal cell was formed as a highly defined six-sided structure (hexagon) that gives quartz tremendous strength. Quartz may be translucent or opaque, and varies greatly in color, depending on exposure to different oxides and minerals during its creation. In 1987 CaesarStone became the first company to harness the extraordinary properties of natural quartz in its unique line of original quartz surfaces and quartz countertops.
